STATEMENT OF FAITH

The following comprise the Scriptural beliefs of this church and its members.

We believe in the one and only living and true God, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; and that it is the duty of all intelligent creatures to love and obey Him. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; John 14t: 10-26; 2 Cor. 13:14)

We believe the Bible to be the verbally and plenarily inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible and God-breathed and, therefore, are the final authority for faith and life. (2 Tim. 3:16-17, 2 Pet. 1:20-21)

We believe that God created man upright. We believe in the fall of man; in the depravity of human nature; and that men, unless they are born again, can never see the kingdom of God. We believe in the incarnation obedience, suffering and death of Christ. His resurrection and ascension; and that He alone, by His suffering and death, has made atonement for sin; and that He ever liveth to make intercession for us. (Gen 1:26-27; Rom. 3:22-23, 5:12; 6:23; Eph. 2:1-3; 4:17-19; John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-10; 1 Pet 1:18-19; 1 John 1:9)

We believe that Christ has appointed Baptism and the Lord's Supper to be perpetually observed in the church, the former to signify a necessity of the washing of regeneration by the blood of Christ, and the latter as an expression of our faith in the atonement made for sin by the death of Christ. (Matt. 28; 19-20; Acts 2:41-42; 18:18; 1 Cor. 11:23-26)

We believe in the future existence of the soul; that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked; a day of final judgment when all will receive according to their works; the wicked going away into everlasting punishment, and the righteous into life eternal. (Matt. 25:41-46; Mark 9:43-48; Luke 16:19-26; John 5:28-29; 11:25-26; 2 Thess. 1:7-9; Jude 6-7; Heb. 9:27; I Cor. 3:9-15;. II Cor. 5:10; Rev. 20:5-6; 11-15)

We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between one man and one woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one's gender by surgery or appearance. We believe that the only Scriptural marriage is the joining of one man and one woman. (Gen. 2:24; 19:5, 13; 26:8-9; Lev. 18:1-30; Rom. 1:26-29; Rom. 7:2; 1 Cor. 5:1; 6:9; 7:10; Eph. 5:22-23; 1 Thess. 4:1-8; Heb. 13:4)

We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. We reject any teaching that abortions of pregnancies due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or the physical or mental well-being of the mother are acceptable. (Job 3:16; Ps. 51:5; 139:14-16; Isa. 44:24; 49:1,5; Jer. 1:5; 20:15-18; Luke 1:44)

Woodburn Bible Church

We are a Christ-centered, non-denominational Bible preaching, Bible teaching church.  In addition to our Sunday morning services, we also offer adult Bible study classes and wonderful children's programs from Pre-K - 12th grade.

We have many opportunities available for those who are seeking to serve the Lord.  We are very family oriented and our congregation ranges all the way from newborn babies to senior citizens.

We are a strong church family that strives to make visitors feel welcome.  If you are looking for a new church home or would just like to make a visit, we cordially invite you to worship with us.  We look forward to meeting with you!

Jon Sander began attending Woodburn Congregational Church in 1994.  After being mentored by Pastor LeRoy for several years, Jon began attending Bible College in 2001.  The congregation showed their support for Jon's desire to serve the Lord by paying for his entire Bible College tuition.  He graduated from Calvary Bible College in 2005 and was ordained shortly thereafter.  He served as Assistant Pastor from 2005-2008.  He became the pastor of Wooburn Bible Church in 2008 after Pastor LeRoy retired.
